this is related to BLAST and alignment
last week we had the first lecture
- intro to bioinformatics
- what’re the 3 websites responsible for gathering the data
- all of them communicate together
if they dont collaborate
we wont know what enters here and there
and if you notice in the practical, there are version updates
- annotations of each differs
- EMBL → provides details on exons
- NCBI → ideal for blasts
be familiar with each
- so why 3?
- why do we need bioinformatics?
- easy access (accessibility)
- tons of information from DNA sequencing
- we cant have it in papers
- it’s designed to gather the information
- we gather it, and then we annotate it
- physical mapping
- what chromosome, where exons, the details within the sequence itself
things are getting complex
