Reception:

rejection criteria:

  1. QNS “quantity not sufficient” (special condition for sodium citrate tubes to achieve the 1:9 ratio and avoid false results)
  2. Hemolyzed → plasma is red ish
  3. lipemic plasma (turbid)
  4. blood collected in a syringe
  5. urine collected in stool
  6. mismatch in label / unlabeled
  7. leakage
    1. form contamination from leakage
  8. plasma itself is contaminated
  9. correct tube

blood film:

Sickledex:

need:

  1. whole blood
  2. negative and positive control
  3. prepared reagent

procedure:

  1. add 2mL of reagent on each tube
  2. add 20 uL of (controls a+ sample0
  3. mix using droppers/pipettes
  4. wait for 5 minutes

principle of test is HbS solubility

positive test → presence of HbS which is insoluble in this case → turbid and lines not covered
